Earlier this week participants at the gala banquet of the International Conference of Shluchim were treated to an address from His Excellency, Ambassador Yehuda Avner from Jerusalem, Israel.

The entire community is invited to join Bais Menachem for a family Sukkot outing at Hamilton Park. The carnival will take place on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008 from 1 pm - 4 pm. We will have lots of activities including a moon bounce, face painting, games, raffles, and prizes. Admission is $5 per child for all activities. Deli, food from the grill, and beverages will be sold separately. A Sukkah will be available on premises. You won't want to miss this event!

On Sunday, August 31, the 10th year of operations at Bais Menachem will begin with the arrival of our students. We look forward to another year of educating and guiding the young men of Bais Menachem, and we recommit to our goal of "Raising the Standards of Our Future".

Earlier this week about a dozen students and several staff returned to Wilkes-Barre to start their four-week summer camp adventure. Next week they will launch a three week road trip across the United States. The road trip will be highlighted by their stay at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming.

More than 30 students, teachers, staff, and former students attended Bais Menachem's annual year-enad banquest to mark to end of its 9th, and most successful year yet.

Once again, Bais Menachem and the United Hebrew Institute joined for a fabulous Lag B'Omer parade. The parade was led by floats featuring a model of the Bais Hamikdash, the Holy Temple, and a super-sized pair of Tefillin and Shabbos Candles. Each Friday our students visit dozens of local business people and professionals to share a Torah thought or to help them in with the performance of a Mitzva or two. Additionally, many ongoing classes and one on one study sessions take place each week at the Yeshiva building and at the homes and workplaces of members of the community.

We would like to congratulate Mr. Yosef Kashani of Long Beach, NY for being the winner of a 2-year luxury car lease in our grand raffle. We would also like to thank all of those who purchased tickets for their help in supporting Bais Menachem.
