Bais Menachem Spreads Purim Spirit Across NEPA

As in years past, the staff and students of Bais Menachem Youth Development Program in Wilkes-Barre brought the joy and unity of Purim to Jews wherever they may be. Teams of young students along with Bais Menachem Shluchim, student mentors, paired up to read the MegillasEsther and distribute ShalachManos near and far.

Rabbis Tzvi Perlman and Pinny Levitin coordinated a network of volunteers to perform these special holiday mitzvot in 10 nursing homes in Wilkes-Barre, Dallas, Wyoming, Kingston and Edwardsville. In addition our volunteers brought hope and joy to Jews in confinement at four correctional facilities in Northeast Pennsylvania. Jewish patients in all of the local hospitals were visited as well.

A special Megillah reading and Purim party held for young Israelis working in the area was attended by 25 overjoyed participants. Additionally, more than 200 men, women, and children joined at the JCC for a Purim feast co-sponsored by Bais Menachem and the UHI. In total, the Megillah was read at least 20 times, and more than 200 Shalach Manos food packages were distributed.
